2017-2018 Season

The 2017-2018 Season was unique in that there were four productions each directed by a different faculty director.

The year started off with the dystopian classic "1984". The show had a limited run revival on Broadway, the summer of 2017, and the play still seems to resonate, especially among younger adults. The interesting thing about 1984 is that it is often used by conservatives and liberals as a reference point, claiming this or that leader, "Big Brother," so Mr. Como felt it was important to not come across as having an agenda, but pointing out certain factual details that have come into practice since the novel's original predictions in 1949.

Next up in the season could not have been farther genre wise. Mr. Daignault directed his first play at Chaparral, the one act, the Brother's Grimm Spectaculathon. A Parody farce of the Brother's Grimm fairy tales. This play was that year's one act entry in the One Act competition at the Norther Arizona Festival of Theatre which was held at Valley Vista High School that year. Next up was a door farce comedy stage in the black box and directed by Ms. Flayton. The season wrapped up with the charming and dance heavy, Singin' in the Rain, which was directed and choreographed by Ms. Starrett.
