Artist Statement: 

For this unit, the goal was to focus on shading, perspective, and matching colors. The goal was to create a realistic self-portrait that looks just like the image. 

I used a variety of graphite pencils to show the difference of color on drawing paper. 

To start this project we started by taking a picture of ourselves and lowering the saturation. Then we printed out the photo and gridded it and our drawing paper. Then I began drawing, matching each grid to the one on the opposite paper. I focused on matching the color and pushing the contrast, along with shading and blending to make the drawing look realistic. Finally, I erased any leftover grid lines and I was done.
