Artist Statement:

For this project, my goal was to create a realistic picture of my dog using charcoal and ink. I focused on shading, blending, and matching colors to create my realistic photo.

I used charcoal sticks, charcoal pencils, a tortillion to blend, a graphite pencil, a white gel pen, and a black pen to add detail for this project.

For this project, I started by gridding my photo and artwork to match boxes to get a realistic image. I also added a border. Then I began layering charcoal and blending to complete my artwork. I used a combination of black and white when I wanted to make grey and layered on top of that. I focused my detail on Gus, my dog, instead of the background so that way I could put all my effort into that instead. Finally, I used a black pen and a white gel pen to add detail. Then I was done!
