Artist Statement:

For this unit, the idea was to draw using pure lines, this basically means no sketchy lines.  This also means that we show depth with line weight instead of shading.

I used Graphite Pencil on 9" x 12" Drawing Paper for all three drawings in this unit.

For this unit, we started by sketching our subject, focusing on the main shapes of the subject and sketching those. Once we had the main shape down we added details like lighter lines to show depth like creases but focused on the main construction of the shoe.  Once we had the entire subject sketched out we went over those lines making them darker and more confident.  After that, I erased the sketchy, hairy, lines and then it was done!
