Inspired

Yaahhh heeellooooo

So the theme of this artwork is that we get inspired by our photographer again. Then we should fill a movie and develop it. Then take a photogram of all the photos on the roll. Then we should decide which is our favorite image and then develop it big, so we have it separately next to the other.

Well, I got inspired by the photographer Irving Penn. So I had to find a "model" and then capture this with a simple background. I used my private Pentax IQZoom 200 movie camera and the movie Mrs. Medsker gave us. The utensils I needed to develop my film and photogram were also provided by Mrs. Medsker. The Dark Room is in the school.

So I took my camera and without really knowing what exactly I'm doing and took my pictures. I completely forgot to take photos that got inspired by my photographer. So finally I had only two photos to choose from. But I thought that this picture is actually quite good, because it is funny and has a simple background. Furthermore, I found this one good, as it shows a close-up of my little sister, and I see it as a kind of portrait of her character. The angle is a bit lower but not really recognizable.

So the story behind this picture is actually the presentation of my character. It started with taking 3 pictures at school and then decided that I wanted to take cool photos in New York. So we went the weekend down to New York as planned and checked in at the hotel. I started taking pictures in the hotel of Ellie and my mum. This photo was created. When we were out on Broadway I took a couple of pictures. Unfortunately, I really did not had time to make as much as I wanted to do. So when we got home, I quickly took pictures of objects and the birds around the house. Then in the next lesson I took the film out of the camera and prepared for the winding up, etc. Unfortunately, after wrapping the film around the spiral, I pushed the film too hard and pressed it against each other. This destroyed 95% of my pictures in hindsight. I thought about shooting a new movie and then developing it to hopefully get a better result, but when I saw this well-developed picture of Ellie I decide to keep it. It fits so well with my photographer and I'm so happy with this one that I developed it in big size.

I think I actually did a pretty good job ... except for the crushing of the film roll. For the next time I know now that I have to deal with it much more carefully.
