Sculpture Concentration #3

An Ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain

My artwork is made out of wire, fluffy wool, a wood panel, yellow chalk, pink tape and glue. I started with the bird's molding, finished it pretty quickly, and in the same hour I lubricated my wooden plate with liquid glue and scraped chalk on it, so that the plate was full of yellow powder. In the next hour, I then aufflufft something of the new wool and then stuck it as a yellow "grass" again with liquid glue on the plate. Since I was not yet satisfied with my sculpture, I started to form eggs and stuffed wool there. At home I already scratched the chalk on it and now I also wanted to glue dried flower blots on the bird, unfortunately I did not save my dried bouquet and it was thrown away. So I'm back to school with my "naked" bird and have added a pink party hat on the bird's head.

My inspiration was a picture of a bird in the internet, but I did not want to make a common bird at that point. So I decided to make a funky looking bird. So that’s how my sculpey ended being a Ostrich. I am proud of my sculpey because it looks crazy and very colorful but you still have the wire sculpture in it so you have between all this party and chaos a calm natural thing. And I think it represents the birds character very good, because they are some cute funny animals. Next time I wil know how to keep my material together.
