Alpaca - At least he has the heart in the right place (In work)
My artwork is made out of clay, then black clay paint and then a glaze layer.
So we started with clay that we formed in a ball so that there is a cavity is in all of the individual pieces (Legs, neck, head) , then I formed it into an alpaca. We let the sculpture dry until the next class where we then painted the sculpture with 3 layer of black clay paint. After I let the paint dry, I started scratching my graffiti pattern. Until that we put the sculptures in the oven. Unfortunately in this step I lost the neck with the head and two legs. But I still glazed the sculpture again with 3 layers. Then in this step I dropped the head and the neck which caused that one of the ears broke up. But I just scratched it so that it looks that it is normal. Kind of normal. However I burned the Alpaca again in the oven and glued it then later on with superglue together.
Throughout the process I had an image of a pinata as orientation. I wanted to make an square Alpaca, because I wanted to avoid the breaking off of particles, which obviously did not work out.
So I am proud that I found a way with clay to show my favorite animal. I wanted that it looks cute. I think the think that it koos like that a preschool kid did this little thing makes it more cute. Next time I know I have to make the sculpture bigger and I can get more creative with the scratching. I also have to work more on my forming skills, because my alpaca sags on the right side
