Inclusion Design Project: "Climbing the Wall"
Colored Pencil on Drawing Paper
09" x 12"
My drawing shows a few children climbing over a brick wall to play with some other children who happen to have disabilities. This piece is supposed to demonstrate inclusion and there are few things more accepting than a child looking for a playmate. The broken brick wall represents the fallen divide between people with disabilities and those without. This inclusion design shows that the younger generation is climbing over this fallen wall to interact and include those with disabilities- bringing them into our world instead of just leaving an opening for them to cross.
I completed this piece using Colored Pencil on Drawing Paper.
For this piece, I drew from more of a distance and worked with colored pencils. It was rather challenging and I felt that it could have turned out better had I been more familiar with drawing smaller and gotten more familiar with the medium. Next time to improve upon this piece and future pieces I plan to be more confident with the colored pencil in order to produce darker and more vibrant colours that stand out on the page.
