Donate Life Project 1: "Strength to Strength"

Colored Pencil on Drawing Paper

11" x 09"

My drawing depicts a man holding up a girl in a natural landscape with a natural landscape background. For the sun of the landscape, I wanted to convey the message of organ and tissue donation in a not-so-scary way by not putting images of actual organs, so I used the socially acceptable loving version of the heart. There is also a red string tied around the wrist of the little girl and the man, symbolising their connection of life (red is often associated with rebirth and new life). The message reads "From Strength to Strength", something inspired by what one of my life long mentors often said to me.

I completed this piece using Colored Pencil on Drawing Paper. For this piece, I tried to work more on my landscapes (something I'm rather uncomfortable with), and worked with colored pencils, a medium that I'm familiar and pretty comfortable with. To improve upon this piece I think I could work on defining the background and grass in the foreground, as well as defining the text and executing it in a more outstanding manner.
