Sgraffito Tile

Tools & Materials: Drawing paper, HB graphite pencil, scratchboard, sgraffito tile, metal carving tools.

In this art project I was working a material I was not very familiar with and creating a design in a way that I had never done before. It was interesting to see how the sgraffito work with the tools I was using. Because I was not completely comfortable with the material I chose to do a more simplistic design. I started by sketching my design on paper with a graphite pencil then sketching it out on a piece of scratchboard. Then I drew on my design on the sgraffito and began carving with metal tools.
