Realistic Self Portrait

Title: Realistic Self Portrait

Materials: Blick Studio Graphite pencils (2h, HB, B, 2B, 4B, 6B)

Artist Statement: In these pieces I had used a new technique I had never used before. I used graphite drawing pencils in a range of shades to create the Graphite Value Strip and the Realistic Self Portrait. To create the value strip I used the assortment of pencils to create shading from dark to light. To create the self portrait I started by taking an image of myself, printing it out, then later drawing a one inch square grid pattern to then follow to properly shade and draw out the image. I enjoyed the process of making this project and I am pleased with the outcome of it.
