artist statement:
I was inspired to create this piece based on Tom K Doyle's work that interprets his childhood memories of making forts with his brother who passed. My piece is based off of his but with a twist, it is more catered to my childhood experience. I used to make forts with my siblings all the time so I decided to replicate one we made often. I colored the whole thing purple to mimic Doyle's monochrome pieces.
how it was made:
I first created a base out of a slab
Then I created two chairs using a slab and cutting it into pieces then connecting them together
I used the extruder to create all the slabs that I used in this project, I had to hit the chairs with a hairdryer to make them become hard faster so I could drape the blanket slab on the chairs
then I underglazed it sent it to be bisque fired
then I added clear glaze and had it fired one more time.
