What Did We Do?
In this project, we were asked to come up with an action plan that we would take to promote healthy eating habits. My group that contained James, Tristan, and Lucas began by brainstorming possible ideas and eventually slimmed it down to one. Our goal was to create organic food options for people, use locally sourced ingredients, and guide people towards organic options near them. For our project, we concluded that we were going to write out two organically sourced meals that someone could make at home. We made sure that these ingredients could be bought at Harvest Market by visiting the store and making a list of organic items in it. We then assembled a slideshow and presented our simple yet effective idea to the class.
Conclusion:
Throughout this project, my communication skills improved because I had to arrange what parts each of my group members were going to complete in the short week we had to finish this project. I used my critical thinking skills as well when we were first asked to come up with an idea for the project. My group was stumped until I proposed an idea of making recipes. We then built off of that and it was smooth sailing for the rest of the week.
One thing I could work on was my collaboration skills because my group felt relatively separated rather than coming together as one. It felt individual because we were all completing different aspects of the project that would gradually combine. I could have made a greater effort in bringing my group together. Another thing I need to work on is my creativity. We were left with a lot of time to make our project and I believe that we could have stepped out of our comfort zone and made something more challenging than a slideshow. Other than these small learning opportunities, I had a great time with this unit and am looking forward to our next project.
