The Rube Goldberg machine, was originally a comic book strip created by American cartoonist, Rube Goldberg. It was a machine that used a series of complex steps to accomplish a simple task. It later became a reality as people started to make their own machines based off their own designs and ideas.
Our task was to create our own Rube Goldberg machine in our groups of 4. We had to complete our machine and a presentation in time for out first presentation night. The requirements for our project were to have a theme, 10 steps, 5 simple machines, 4 energy transfers, blueprints, and a construction log. Our goal was to wake somebody up by popping a water balloon over them. To reflect our theme we made our board resemble a bedroom as much as possible. For our presentation, we had somebody sit under the board and get soaked after giving our presentation. The main parts of our machine were the water balloon and the newton's cradle.
