For this short project, we were assigned a specific element from the periodic table to make a superhero or villain about it based on facts and its properties. We used our research, along with what we learned from the Periodic Trends Lab, to write a paper about our element. My element was Francium, and I wrote a newspaper article about the villain and its powers/properties.
Throughout the course of this short project, I learned many new things about Francium while also practicing my collaborative skills during the lab. One area where I particularly improved in was Collaboration. Although the project was an independent assignment, I was able to do my part during the lab with my group. I recorded observations for my group while conducting the experiments and contributed in making the data tables for our information. This was vital because it allowed to make a conclusion and prove our hypotheses to be correct. I also conveyed my ideas on what we could change when something did not work when making the different solutions. This was a significant improvement since my last project. However, I could continue to work on managing myself as a Conscientious Learner. When working on my project, there were times where I caught myself procrastinating. I was able to finish my work eventually, but I stayed up late the night before the project was due to complete it. In the future, I should set a certain amount of time to work on the project everyday so I don't fall behind in my other work and I can be on task.
Overall, I thought I succeeded in completing this project efficiently and exceptionally. I am satisfied with how my project turned out and with the amount of effort I put into it. It was a fun project and I learned a lot about Francium that can be helpful in this class.
