Gait Analysis Project

Summary of Project:
The gait analysis project was a very interesting one. We used directional gravitational forces such as gFx, gFy, and gFz in order to find a predictive equation to figure out a certain trait about people based on these forces such as weight and height. We used excell in order to make it easier for us to analyze this data. There is so many different data points it woud take weeks to analyze all of it. Using excell we were able to skip over that time and get stuff such as minimum forces for each individual. We also used excell to predict peoples heights and weights by analyzing our graphs, coming up with a predictive model, then apply thou model to these peoples datas.

The only major physics concept that we covered during this unit was using gravitational forces, analyzing those forces, and putting that data into a graph. I was doing this kind of stuff with gravitational forces alot last year in AP Physics. This skill helped us complete our project because it was a big part of the project. Gait analysis is the systematic study of human motion, using visual observations and movement measurements for the purpose of helping people with conditions affecting their ability to walk, such as helping athletes move more efficiently and identifying posture or movement-related problems in people with injuries. Gait analysis is important for some medical diagnostics and the area of biomechanics, so engineers design ways to test, analyze and learn from the way people walk.
Reflection:
Overall I think this project went very smoothly. I think the extension of time that our teacher gave us was perfect for our brains to click. Soon after he extended it our stress lowered and we thought of multiple really good ideas around how to analyze gait. I think we definetley could have managed our time a little bit better but overall I think we managed it fairly well. The main thing that I would like to work on as an individual is including my group memebers more. At times I find myself shutting them out because they can be a distraction sometimes. I think that I should try to be more inclusive and accepting of their ideas.
