Bommer Canyon

Link to location

Lovey little nature center within walkable distance to UCI. Great place to go walk / hike after work or for a quick weekend jaunt. Pro tip - springtime is best, the hillsides become alive with beautiful wildflowers!

Great place to mountain bike after work if you're into that kinda thing.

Laguna Coast Wilderness Park

Connects to Bommer Canyon, very popular with mountain bikers. Tons of trails to explore, some with some stunning views of the ocean, and others which are more isolated. Not a bad place to explore for an afternoon.

Mt San Antonio/Baldy

Link to location

Mt San Antonio, or Mt Baldy as it is know by others, is a Southern California classic. It's about 1.5 hours away, north of LA and boasts an impressive 10,000+ ft in elevation. Very popular, but a great start for the more serious hikers. Can only be hiked in the summer/fall due to snow.

Joshua Tree National Park

A Southern California classic. Beautiful region with great camping, hiking, and desert viewing. Extremely popular with the climbing community, and just about everyone else. Best time to go is on a weekday in the fall/winter/spring. Summers can be brutally hot.
