The Counseling Center is UCI’s primary counseling and mental health agency on campus. The center provides an array of services – including short-term counseling sessions, urgent care and psychological testing, and workshops – to help graduate students cope with professional and/or personal challenges.
The Counseling Center offers several Support Groups for students to learn from one another and work on personal problems in a helpful group setting. The Dissertation Support Group, LGBTQ Discussion Group, Graduate Women’s Therapy Group and others address some of the most pressing issues for students.
Find more about the Counseling Center through their website or our Counseling Center page on the handbook.
There is no additional cost to students for services at the Counseling Center.
The Student Health Center is another resource for emotional, behavioral, and mental health. Here, you can schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist.
These services are indefinite, there is no limit to the number of visits or duration of treatment. Though, depending on your need and staff availability, you may be referred to an off-site provider.
Services with a psychiatrist will be billed to your UCSHIP insurance (unlike with visits to the Counseling Center).
