Brief 2

This brief is a continuation from brief 1 for this class.
In this brief, using the library of resources I collated for the local game development company Black Lab Games in the brief document in brief 1, I create a short video of me speaking about who Black Lab Games is as a company, a bit of their history and the more well-known games that they have made.

This document contains notes I wrote down before starting work on Brief 2. With this, I decided on what medium I was going to use to present the summary of my findings for Black Lab Games, and any other useful information that could assist me in the completion of this project.
Even though there isn't much extra information on this document, it's good to be more organized and at least have somewhere to write down even small extra bits of important information.
Seeing as the summary of my findings for Black Lab Games will be presented in video format, which requires me to present the information in front of a camera, I prepared a script containing what it is I need to say in the video, so that way, I'm not improvising everything and skipping over info.
This is the video for this project that is for presenting the summaries of my findings for Black Lab Games to the class. I covered who Black Lab Games is, what their history is and the game they've made, as well as a basic description of the games, some of the mechanics you can expect in the game, and how the games were received.
I recorded the voice-overs, reading off the script above, as I was editing the video.

How did it go?
Well, what a ride this as been. This brief was a continuation from brief 1, so I was working with the same partner as brief 1, which... yeah let me get to that in a second.
What was required from this brief was pretty straight forward—it was just taking the library of resources I created in brief 1 and putting them all together in a video. The first thing I did here was write up some preparation notes with the important parts of the brief document and then points on what I should talk about. Once that was done, I went ahead and started on the script for the video. I found that it would be much easier to read off of a script than to just come up with everything as I'm saying it, and it would also reduce the risk of me skipping over important information in the heat of the moment. Reading off of the script, I recorded a total of 10 different parts of the voice-over; while recording the voice-overs, I was also putting the video together. The video took a total of a few days to put together, but that doesn't mean consecutive days. The video began production during the weeks the brief was to be done in, but it didn't actually finish production until WAY after the brief was due, even after brief 4 was due.
About my original partner—I tried my best to get Zayne to work with me on this project with multiple attempts to establish communication over Discord, but only a small amount of those attempts were answered and were met with excuses as to why he hasn't been able to work with me, from his internet going out for a week and a half to constantly passing out because of personal reasons (which that part I can understand). When I also asked Zayne if he had done his brief 1 page for this class on his learning journal yet and if he needed any feedback for it, he informed me that he had not even touched learning journal as a whole yet. It just simply wasn't going to work, so I had to cut my losses and continue this brief as a solo exercise.
There's two things I'd like to talk about here.
Firstly, about my time management—My time management in this brief was utterly horrendous, but I do know why. Two things that really threw off this brief was, firstly, my partner being very unresponsive and, secondly, the other two modules I needed to do that were taking up my time and attention. Me worrying about my partner took up a lot of time because I was waiting for my partner to get back to me so we could commence work on the brief, which I understand now was a terrible idea and I should have just commenced the brief without him. I have had people say to me that I should just do my parts, but the thing is I can't really provide an incomplete brief because it just irks me until the end of time or until I fix it, and I don't really know how to only do my parts in a way that makes the brief feel like it's wholly done even though it's missing the parts of my partner.
Lastly, about my original partner—I was anticipating that it was going to come to this. Communication issues were a thing that were present throughout all of brief 1 as well, and it only seemed to worsen in brief 2, to the point where I simply couldn't take it anymore. The communication issues were really quite stressing me out because I watched the days pass by just waiting for Zayne to get back to me, and it would take days on average for any response.
If I get someone like my original partner again—I definitely know what to do there. To save myself the stress of dealing with this all over again, I'm going to make sure time isn't wasted and just continue the brief as a solo exercise when I know they won't cooperate. I need to make sure to get in contact with them more and if there's long silence and no real way to contact them during that silence, I'll know not to hold onto hope that they'll return and just drop them. I believe that will help immensely with my time management, as I won't be spending so much time waiting for my partner to get back to me just to work on the brief.
