Week 12

— GAD171 —
We are now at the tail end of our projects, so it's as good a time as any to start considering the things we've learned about making physical games and how they apply to digital games! A great example of this is Armello, an Australian made and immensely popular digital multiplayer game with heavy board game influences. Watch this GDC Talk about its development!

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® Remastered (2016)
by Beenox, Raven Software and Activision
I've continued to play this game after writing about it in last week's page. I managed to complete the main campaign of this game—which I was playing on Veteran, the hardest difficulty in the game, as I said in last week's page—and it was quite the accomplishment. This game's campaign took several days to complete on Veteran difficulty, as well as A LOT of retries (within the hundreds), and an extreme determination to go on.
One mission in the campaign that I have not yet completed (an epilogue mission, but is also considered a bonus mission and comes after the credit roll) is the mission "Mile High Club", which when played on Veteran difficulty, is the most unfair, time-consuming and effort-straining mission in the entire game. I have retried this mission hundreds of times alone, and in one sitting, I played for a total of 5-6 hours trying to complete this mission which only takes a minute to complete, and I still haven't completed it yet. In fact, after checking the statistics of the achievement that's unlocked by completing this mission on Veteran, only 0.64% of the entire amount of people that has played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered at least once on Xbox have unlocked this achievement.
Just like last week, I played this on Xbox One.

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades (2016)
by Rust LTD.
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades is still my absolute favourite virtual-reality game that I own. It's basically a sandbox game that allows you to play around with guns, melee weapons, explosives, etc.
Whenever I boot up the game, the first mode that I'll typically go to is Take & Hold, which is a really fun mode with the objective of capturing the objectives (referred to as "Holds") and surviving against waves of walking, talking human-sized sausages with guns and hats (known as "sosigs"). I typically play the "Ricky Dicky Random" loadout, which gives you a completely random firearm (with the relevant ammunition) and melee weapon on spawn, as I like to roll the dice and challenge myself to try and fend off the waves with whatever firearm I get, whether it be a good gun like a SCAR-L or a completely awful gun like the Pocket 1906.
I played this on PC with an Oculus Quest 2.
