In this activity we were challenged to render more complicated objects in smaller scale meaning it's harder to achieve greater details. To make object stand out I used a variety of techniques such as shading and fine lining.
Thank you Win for letting me use this picture.
First I started by going over the blue pencils with a 0.3 fine line pen then outline the outside of the shape with a 0.5 fine line pen this is important because the shape curves meaning the the outline would be darker.
After outlining the hand held whisk with fine line pens, I outline all around the shape with yellow marker pen but mainly focusing on the right this is because the imaginary light source is to the left of my paper. After waiting for the first layer to dry I applied another layer of yellow onto the right side of the shape to get a darker tone of yellow. I also experimented with using different colour such as blue berry(BV04) and Honey yellow(Y38) within one shape.
Applying soft black pencil is crucial. However, it's also important to add it to the right place in this case my light source is located to the left so I applied my soft black pencils on the right side of the shape which helps enhances the depiction of shadows and depth.
The reason I picked this hand whisk as my favourite one is because of the simplicity of the shape itself which make it easier for me to render compared to other smaller and more complicated shapes. I also discovered that I could acheive a way smoother shadows through applying soft black pencils while your paper is ontop of a mouse pad. The result of the shadows can be seen in the picture underneath.
After completing this sheet I've realize that I struggled to control the tip of my marker pen when the shape is small and delicated. I also struggled in rendering shapes that has hole going through them like the one on the top right of the paper.
