Importance of CCAs:

• Help students explore passions and realise their passion

• Give students breaks to rejuvenate between exams

• Expand social circle - Meet new friends of similar interests

• Nurture leaders:

  • • Help them develop values like time management, resilience, respect, honesty, which are important values contributing to the success of a leader

    • Help them empthathise with their teammates

What Leaders should do:

• Praise small achievements made by team members

  • • Increase team morale

    • Reaffirms the importance and respect a leader has for his team members

    • Respect is a two way street; Team members would respect leader, and also be more willing to serve under him

• Being sincere

  • • Good leaders are not snarky, or sarcastic

    • Creates an environment whereby there is trust involved between the employees and the leader

    • Knows that the leader will be honest and not manipulative, will follow leader readily

• Not afraid to stoop down to the level of his followers

  • • A good leader isn't arrogant, but rather full of humility

    • Acknowledges the power of "we" instead of "me"

    • Isn't afraid to learn from others, and is brave enough to admit and show it

    • This also garners respect from followers, as followers know that they are respected enough by their leader to the extent that he would work with them to evaluate the problems they face

    • Helps create a better connection between followers and leaders - Mutual understanding
