• Read story
• Talk about use of 4C’s in the story
• Split class into groups of 3-5

Directions to Students

• You need to draw up blueprints for your house
• You will need to create a supply list
• You will need to create a model of your house, not full size
• Your house has to have certain components (an area for food, sleeping, personal hygiene, doors)
• Your model may not be larger than (give size here)
• You may use ANY supplies in the room
• Only take what you need
• This activity is designed to allow students to plan a creation and see it through to completion.

This activity is the similar to I Wanna New Room just with a different text and you can customize the design challenge as you see fit for your class. The learning is in the problem solving, resiliency and creation.

Extension Activities

• Add a monetary amount to each item used. Ask students to come in below a certain budget.
• Measure square footage (use graph paper to design blueprints)
