This farm is known as one of the largest and oldest coffee producers in Kona. First, we were given a tour of the farm by Chai, one of the workers. We saw a lot of cool plants and learned about process of growing coffee. At the end of our tour, we even had the opportunity to taste some different types of coffee.
This amazing historical park is a sacred site that was used by Hawaiians for several centuries until the end of the Kapu system in 1819. Here, we watched a short film about how the site came to be, ate our lunch, and climbed on the nearby lava rocks.
We visited a beach that is unlike any other. Black Sand Beach has black sand created from basalt rock and lava flowing into the ocean. The sand feel like very small, smooth pebbles. This area is a very common resting spot for turtles and we were able to see a few.
At Volcano National Park, we hiked down a very steep hill through a lush forest, down into a huge crater that formed from volcanic activity. We also walked through a huge lava tunnel and went to an area in the park where a volcano was active.
This is an amazing waterfall that is part of the Hawai'i State Parks. There was a small staircase next to the waterfall that me and my friends climbed up to get a better view of the falls.
This is a beautiful beach located in beach in Kalaoa, Hawaii. Our group hiked to a nice quiet spot and relaxed. We swam in the cold, salty water and explored the ocean rocks for sea creatures.
