Let's talk about love

In this weekend's Gospel (30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A) Jesus tells the Pharisees that the greatest commandment is love: to love God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul. We've been exploring with children this week the different things they love and how they can use their love for the world around them to demonstrate their love for God.

We have also been eager to stress to the children this week that they are loved back. I know we all believe it but it's so important that we say it too! We believe our children are created in the image and likeness of God, he knows us, loves us and calls us to love one another. I'd say that's a pretty good way to start the week!

Baptism in Year 2

Year 2 were blessed to visit St Mary's Church last week to get an expert look at some of the signs and symbols of baptism. They were treated to a masterclass in Church artefacts from Monsignor Tony (who was amazed by the children's knowledge and confidence!) The children shared with great enthusiasm their knowledge of the sacrament and their deeper understanding of the symbols associated with it.

Our deepest thanks to Monsignor Tony, and the whole parish team, for their continued support and commitment during these difficult months.

30th Witness Assembly

Great Love

Continuing this week's theme of love, Mrs Trimmer (and her ducks!) take the lead in our Witness Worship. She shares with us the remarkable life and work of Saint Mother Teresa, who famously encouraged the world to acknowledge that the size of the action is immaterial to the amount of love behind it. It's a beautiful focus to round off a busy half term where staff have gone above and beyond to share their love for the school community by keeping our children happy and safe.

Golden Action!

Jackson (and his big brother Archie) have helped local charity Guildford Action by making a short video to promote an event called a Night on the Tiles. It’s very simple - they just want families and their friends to sleep on the floor for a night or two, by building a den inside (or outside, under the stars, for those that are super brave!) on 27th & 28th November.

Guildford Action can’t hold their annual sleep out due to Covid. So, to help raise much needed funds for the charity, the idea for ‘Night on the Tiles’ was formed!

We think this is such a great example of our school's mission in action that we've awarded Jackson a prestigious golden house point - congratulations!
