Wood Joinery techniques were considered to manufacturing the modules
-Box Joints
-Cross lap joint
Several Ideas were generated to manufacturing the lip lining
1. Gluing two identical panels together where one panel is shorter
-Requires 1/16” panels min
-Extra processing
2.Using table saw to make “Rabbet cuts”
-Better suited for thicker walls
-Extra processing
3.Using module geometry selectively offsetting panels
Ultimately, the decision made for the alpha prototype was to simplify the designs even further to minimize assembly and production time while still maintaining the use of linings. These concepts only required the use of laser cutting to produce the panels. Panels were offset in such a way that it would create the effect of gaps and linings.
