It was decided that the modules would be produced using laser cut panels. As the customer survey indicated, plastic was disliked while wood and metal were preferred. Laser cutting also meant that metal would have to be abandoned as a material type. It was determined that the nature of the design meant that separate manufacturing processes and alterations would be needed to produce wood and metal modules. Rather than spend additional time making separate designs for metal, the focus of the project would be on wood. This is not a big issue as there was no difference in consumer preference for the two materials.
