Youth influence decision-making.
Expectations are clear and prepare youth for real world situations and future careers.
When engaging youth at adult tables, ratios of youth to adults and technical language/jargon used are considered to ensure youth are empowered to share their voice.
Youth see and hear their ideas reflected in adults’ actions and decisions.
Youth at “adult tables” have a specific adult ally/partner to help guide/mentor them to ensure their full participation and advocate for space to share their voice in the discussion, particularly for newer youth leaders.
Youth lead and teach whole teams from their area of expertise (e.g. youth culture, youth engagement, social media).
Youth are valued as experts and their time and leadership contributions are compensated.
Clear structures or positions are in place for ongoing youth leadership in the organization’s decision making (e.g. youth on governance boards or youth boards have strategic connection to adult boards).
