Caring Adults
Acknowledges and considers the caring adults in the lives of the young people they serve. Caring adults are included in programming when appropriate, and with permission, from the young person.
Caring Adults
Planting
Staff regularly assesses (in)formally youth’s social network and connections to at least one caring adult in their lives.
Staff reaches out as appropriate and with youth’s permission to the participants’ network to provide information/updates on the youth (one-way).
Growing
Other adults present during programming are actively engaged.
Staff communicates with other key adults in youth’s life to ensure alignment in support and to reduce miscommunication (communication is two-way), including if that means the youth is “trying out” independence and would prefer less public parent involvement. Staff ask youth what a caring adult means to them in order to assess and enhance the adult support in their life.
Blossoming
Youth lead conversations/ events that engage their adult social network in the program.
