Post-employment services are vocational rehabilitation services provided subsequent to the achievement of an employment outcome and before case closure. These services are to be provided under an amended IPE and are services necessary to help an individual maintain, regain, or advance in employment, consistent with the individual's strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice.
If the request for post-employment services is after case closure, the individual will need to reapply for services. The provision of post-employment services is subject to the same requirements as the provision of any other vocational rehabilitation service.
The examples below are illustrative only and not intended to cover all possible circumstances appropriate for the provision of post-employment services.
Post-employment services are available to assist an individual to:
Maintain employment e.g., the individual's employment is jeopardized because of conflicts with supervisors or co-workers, and the individual needs mental health services and counseling to maintain the employment.
Regain employment, e.g., the individual's job is eliminated through reorganization and new placement services are needed.
Advance in employment, e.g., the employment is no longer consistent with the individual's strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice.
An amended IPE is required for the provision of post-employment services. The amended IPE shall contain a description of the terms, conditions, and the anticipated duration of the provision of post-employment services. The post-employment plan shall also describe the use of cooperative agreements with other vocational rehabilitation service providers, when applicable.
