Mrs. Langstaff

Hi 6th Grade!

I have been thinking about you and missing our time together at L-M. I know what some of you have been up to by your writing on our google classroom site, I appreciate you doing this. Please remember to read for enjoyment also, I'm holding those Book It coupons to encourage you even though they aren't any good anymore-oops. NOT SORRY!

I have been reading about courage and being my own superhero. During this time I also want you to think of these things. Take care of yourself, enjoy the little things and your family, get into some kind of a schedule/routine, eat healthy (sometimes), and exercise with fresh air. I'm trying to do all of these also:)

We have put together a calendar to help you keep your mind sharp. Please take a look at what we sent your way and try some of it. I check my emails almost daily and our google classroom writings so let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Take care and keep connected.

Week of May 4th Recommended Work Schedule

Website 6th AT HOME SCHEDULE

Dear L-M Families,

Sixth grade teachers worked together to come up with a recommended work schedule for our students. Most of this math work is paper-pencil, but there are a few online options as well. Even though this work is optional and not necessarily required, we would love to see students give these a try. All concepts listed have been previously taught and are considered review, in hopes that your child can work independently. In the case that your child is struggling with a skill and you are unable to help them, here are a few choices that can help.

  1. Students may email teachers anytime. We all check our email throughout the day.

  2. Math Antics is a website that may have a video to help.

  3. Study Jams is a website that may have a video to help as well.

If your child is still having difficulty, please just skip the problem. We do not want anyone stressing over this work.

Fluency is a timed one minute read. Students have been doing these everyday since the beginning of the school year. They should know what to do, but may need you to time them. The goal is to read a little faster each day.

If your child does not have reading material at home right now, feel free to have them read any Time for Kids or Jr.Scholastic magazines that have been included.

Our students are taking part in a major historical event right now. We have included a packet for the students to work on that will help them look back and remember this unsure time in history.

If you have internet access, please have your child check their google classroom account. It is one of the easiest ways for teachers to communicate with our students.

Again, please do not stress over any of this! We are ALL new to distance learning. All we ask is that they try their best.

Tell your kiddos that Mrs. Feldman, Mrs. Langstaff, and Mrs. Wolford miss them terribly and we truly look forward to their posts on Google Classroom!

Stay safe and healthy!
