September has been a month full of emotions ,excitement and new beginnings. As we said goodbye to summer and warmly welcomed fall, the changing colour of leaves brings freshness to our Urban Learning Centre . The first week of school was all about "meet and greet" which gives us a chance to connect and welcome the new school year and routines . Starting in the second week, our Nursery and Kindergarten friends officially began their school year, while children in Grade 1 and up jumped right back into their school routine.
It was amazing to see how well all the children handled the transition after summer break. There were a lot of smiles, a few emotional moments, and a whole lot of support. We spent a lot of time outside, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. The children loved going on walks in the community, where they explored and noticed the life cycle and signs of fall. The children were busy with fall themed crafts and art projects. They painted leaves ,made paintings which illustrates the autumn season and many more by using their creativity and imagination . The children helped harvest our gardens in our raised gardens outside as well as our community gardens at the River Osborne Community Centre.
The Drama Centre became an ongoing project for the children where they set up their own Starbucks Café. They created menus, found props like cups, aprons, and even made their own signs. They took turns being baristas, cashiers, and customers. It was proud to see the little baristas using their imaginations, practicing teamwork, and having so much fun. They served “coffee” with big smiles and polite manners.
We ended the month with a fun birthday celebration on the last Friday of September. We sang songs to make the day special for our birthday friends. Happy Birthday once again to our September stars. We hope your special day was full of joy and laughter. Thank you to all parents and families for your support. We’re looking forward to an amazing year together. In October, we’ll have more fall activities, nature walks, and of course, some Halloween fun! If you ever have any questions or ideas please feel free to reach out to us.
