Police

The Spencer Police Department consists of 19 sworn officers, including the Police Chief, and provides 24 hour protection.

In addition to the Police Department, the City also jointly owns and operates the 911 Communications Center with Clay County. Dispatchers in the Communications Center are considered City employees. Any capital projects for the Communications Center will be found in the Police Department Plan.

Local Options Sales Tax receipts are the major source of revenue for these proejcts. Additional sources of funding are identified on a specific project by project basis as needed.
