Summary of the Project

The word Barangay derived from the word ‘balangay’, which are the sailboats that brought settlers of Malay to the Philippines. Each sailboat carried a large family. The master of the boat gained power as leader of each established barangay. A barangay is defined as a small divisional district forming the most local level of government. After the rectification of the 1986 Constitution, Muntinlupa was divided into two districts, the first includes four barangays, and the second includes the other five. In line with the historical transformation and urbanization of our community, our project aims to inform readers about the different Barangays in Muntinlupa. Each Barangay contains distinctive traits that differentiates themselves from each other. With nine Barangays, Muntinlupa comprises enough elements to showcase the rich culture the Emerald City has developed throughout the years. With our project titled as “Buhay Muntinlupa”, or in English, “Life in Muntinlupa”, we aim to showcase the diversity, history, and culture of our community through highlighting what each barangay has to offer.
