Our activities and research for the International Schools CyberFair project support content standards, required coursework and curriculum requirements.

Which content standards did your CyberFair project address?

The overall objective of our participation in this competition was to make sure that our focus will be able to transition from what goes into the education system, to what comes out of it. This objective would not be reached without the advantage of sharpening our skills through this project. We aim to create a website that is informative, original, interactive, and eye-catching. More specifically, we not just aim to reach the standard of good research and good design, but also the standard of bringing these learnings beyond the classroom. This standard will help us come out of this competition with life-long lessons.

How did this project fit into your required school, district, or state curriculum guidelines?

It is stated in our city’s vision statement that it is envisioned for us to have ‘educated, healthy and God-loving people’ in our community. Our project specifically aims to help the people around us by educating them about their own surroundings. We believe that it is important to be aware of what goes on in our community, and we are pursuing a project that will keep individuals informed.

What new skills did you learn?

Since it was easy for us to work as a team, our learnings as individuals flowed just as smoothly. With our pre-requisite knowledge on our assigned tasks, we were not just able to hone our skills, but also develop new ones. Through the delegation of tasks as two different teams, and the capacity for us to tie it all together, we all learned from one another. Such skills included writing, web design, communication, and so much more. Overall, we believe that the skill that was sharpened the most was our ability to work as a team.

How do you better understand specific ideas?

Through this project, our minds were opened more to the idea of how exactly our community works. As the youth in our community, once we were able to get more of an idea of how our community works, we saw the gaps up close and attempted to see what our fellow youth can do to help.

How does your project fit into the requirements for your school or class?

Our project aligns with the Artificial Intelligence and English subjects in our classes. Through the making of this project, we are able to practice our skills in designing an interactive website as well as gather information for our project. We were able to apply what we learned in the classroom outside, in hopes to further help educate and unite our community.

Has using the Internet for teaching and learning been more effective than traditional methods?

In the making of this project, we realized how vital the Internet is in our education system nowadays, especially since the pandemic hit. Though we cannot see if it is more effective than traditional learning methods, there is much to learn through a screen. Though our education system is not necessarily perfect, the creation of this website led us to the realization that the things we learn in the real world can be shared through a screen, and be carried with us for generations to come. This leads us to believe that our role in our school community as students is to not just learn, but impact.

Information Tools and Technologies We Used to Complete our Cyberfair Project

Our team used a total of 12 computer set-ups (1 for each team member), 1 telephone, and 6 computer software. These tools made the process of finishing our project smoother and more efficient. Through these different platforms, we had better access to many different resources that helped in the completion of our project.

How did these tools help you and where did you locate each tool?

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, all resources were found in our very own homes. Since these are the resources we use for online class, we decided to make use of it for something bigger and beyond the classroom. These tools made the process of finishing our project smoother and more efficient. Through these different platforms, we had better access to many different resources that helped in the completion of our project.

What were your most valuable tools and are there any tools donated by businesses or schools?

Our computer set-ups made this project more smooth sailing. If we lacked this tool, our project would take longer to finish and we would be faced with more conflict. However, since we utilized our home resources, this tool greatly helped us in not just finishing the project, but documenting it and publishing it for the access of other people. None of these resources were donated by businesses or schools. All tools were owned by the team due to the limitations caused by the pandemic.

Which technologies were the most helpful? How?

The most valuable tools that we made use of were the platforms we used for communicating. Though our resources for design and research were equally as helpful, without the act of collaboration, we would not have created a cohesive output.

The Team: Ambassador and Spokesperson

In order for The Cyberfair team to fairly advocate for the city Muntinlupa. Interviews and meetings were held, which is just as efficient as an in-person meeting, it came with an advantage, for people in great distance to be accessed easily. With the information gathered, The Cyberfair team has managed to relay more fruitful information onto the website.

Since the running category of the website is Local Attractions, The Cyberfair team decided to visit the said attractions. This posed as a significant opportunity because it gave them a myriad of usable resources and photos for the website, and another open chance to interview more individuals in order to enhance the website's content.

Making a Difference

Will your project make a difference?

We firmly believe that our project will be of great impact to other people. As we have stated all throughout our project narrative, our eyes were opened to how our community works. We were not just able to see the beauty in each barangay, but we saw the problems that are being faced by members in our community everyday, and we aim to advocate to fill these gaps, especially as the youth of this city.

Have people in your community learned new things through your Web pages?

Through the use of our web pages, a resident in our community can gain new knowledge about the city they live in. We believe that people in our community learned new things through our web pages because our web pages include content that gives out interesting and helpful information that can be used by a person in our community to have a better experience and be more amazed living in the city.

Have other people around the world learned new things about your community?

The concept of a barangay is rooted from the Philippines, this piece of information itself is enough to intrigue individuals who are not familiar with barangays. People from around the world have learned the rich culture of each barangay, how each barangay’s name holds cultural significance to it.

Have you established some new working relationships with people in your community? Who besides you and your students has looked at your Web pages?

During the development of our website, we coordinated with the leaders of each barangay and Museo ng Muntinlupa which allowed us to gather more accurate and factual information regarding our website.

Our Website gave a sense of renewal and belonging in the city to the leaders of each barangay and Museo ng Muntinlupa. The website also helped them to be acknowledged for their works and studies since our team used the information they gave in the content of our website. Their acknowledgement is well-deserved because they are the founders and holders of the city’s astonishing information.

How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The information found on the internet was lacking so we reached out to the leaders of each barangay and were able to acquire a sufficient amount of data and information. With their help and support, we were able to provide the necessary information needed to complete our website.

Our helpers were the staff of Museo ng Muntinlupa and the leaders of each barangay, we contacted and reached out to them, providing us with personal data that cannot be obtained on the internet. They have greatly contributed in completing the content of our website therefore we are truly grateful for their assistance and cooperation.
