Monday 28 April
Dear Families,
We're excited to share with you the latest updates and happenings from our school. A reminder that assembly this Friday 2 May at 2:50pm. If your child has received an award in this newsletter they will be presented with their certificate at Friday's assembly
On Monday, we gathered as a school community for our Easter Liturgy. It was a moving service where we rejoiced in the true meaning of Easter - the triumph of life, hope, and renewal. We began this liturgy by reflecting on the life and leadership of Pope Francis, who continually calls us to be people of peace, mercy, and compassion. His example reminds us that faith is lived out through kindness, humility, and a deep love for all people.
Like many in our community, I was saddened to hear that the Pascoe Vale RSL did not hold a Dawn Service this year- it’s always been such a meaningful tradition for so many of us including myself. After carefully considering the alternative services being offered, we decided it was too difficult to attend, as unfortunately the timing and locations did not align well with our school schedule and personal commitments. We’re hopeful that the Remembrance Day Service, later this year and the 2026 schedule will be better aligned with our calendars, allowing us to fully participate.
As a school community we honoured the significance of ANZAC Day by holding our own special school-based paraliturgy last Thursday, where our students and staff paused reflected, prayed, and gave thanks for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. We gathered once again, this time in our learning spaces, to commemorate the ANZACs. Our School Captains led the service with great respect and maturity, helping us to reflect on the bravery, sacrifice, and spirit of the men and women who served. We concluded this commemoration with the playing of the Last Post, a powerful symbol of remembrance and gratitude.
A special thank you to Gabby Lo Castro for leading the children so thoughtfully in these important occasions.
Curriculum Overviews
The term two curriculum overviews are ready to be accessed via this newsletter on the learning and teaching page or via compass. The termly curriculum overviews offer a snapshot of your child's learning this term. They are designed to keep you informed about the curriculum, learning goals, and key milestones. With this insight into the curriculum, parents can actively support their child's learning at home, reinforcing concepts covered in the classroom and encouraging their curiosity and exploration. Additionally, these overviews provide an opportunity for you to discuss your child's interests, strengths, and areas for growth with their teachers, ensuring a personalised approach to their learning. Together, let's celebrate their achievements, address their needs and lay the foundation for future success.
Parent Information Night: Curriculum 2.0
We invite all parents to attend an important session about the recent updates to the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0. In light of the recent updates to English and Mathematics, we would like to share information about our approach to Assessment and Reporting.
We encourage all parents to attend and stay informed about these key changes.
Please RSVP by clicking here.
Parent Teacher Progress Meetings- Next Tuesday 6 May
We are looking forward to welcoming families to our upcoming Parent Teacher Progress Meetings. These important conversations provide an opportunity to discuss how your child is progressing in readiness for their Semester Two report, and their projected achievement against the year-level standards. During the 10-minute meeting, you can expect a snapshot of your child's learning, including insights into their literacy and numeracy development, general classroom behaviour and effort, and a viewing of some key work samples and milestones. If you feel that additional discussion is needed beyond the scheduled time, please feel free to arrange a follow-up meeting with your child’s teacher. We look forward to celebrating your child’s growth with you.
Please note: Students will finish school at the special time of 1pm on Tuesday 6 May to allow time for the meetings to take place.

Our deepest condolences to the Sangas family (Eva 4G and Marcus PW) on the recent passing of their beloved grandfather on 10 April. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Help Save Coburg Athletics Track
Many of our students and families are part of the Coburg Little Athletics community, and our school has used the Coburg Athletics Track for our own sports events. The proposed Merri-bek Council Masterplan would see the removal of the synthetic track and the loss of key field events- threatening the future of this much-loved facility.
This track has nurtured young athletes for generations. Losing it would mean losing a space where children develop confidence, fitness, and a love of sport.
Please take a moment to view the flyer, have your say, and sign the petition to help protect the future of Coburg Athletics. Your voice matters.
