Why do we care?
Initially, the home location of the laser cutter is located at the upper left corner. This matches up to the artboard (canvas) in your file that contains your artwork. If your artwork is 1" to the right and 1" down from the upper left corner of your file, then the laser cutter will cut / engrave your artwork 1" to the right and 1" down from the home location. This location can be moved so that you can set the home location to a new spot. Usually this is done when you want to use a scrap piece of material and want to set the new home location to where the available material is.
Setting New Home Location
- Be thoughtful about where you are setting the new home location. Avoid using the middle of a large piece of material so you don't cause that material to be unusable for a larger project.
- Press 9-Pointer button to turn the red laser on
- Press X/Y Off and then Go to confirm. This turns the X and Y motors off to allow you to move the blue bar and the optics head. If you feel resistance, then the motors are still engaged. DO NOT try to force movement in either direction.
- Use the blue bar to move on the Y axis, and holding the top of the optics head slide along the X axis to position the red dot to your new home location (where you want (0,0) to be.
- Press Set Home button
- Press 9-pointer to turn the red laser off
- Press reset so the screen shows your job info
- Now, you can consider that where you set the red dot is where the upper left of your artboard is going to be.
