In this elective students learn that they can make a difference by applying everyday sustainable practices. This elective supports student-led environmental sustainability initiatives through Inquiry Based Learning (IBL). The stage one goal is to see tangible climate change action by implementing an effective resource recovery and waste management system. This will involve the development of green waste, soft plastics, paper/cardboard, fabric and e-waste recycling to ensure landfill is kept to a minimum. Students in this elective will lead change and create awareness here at SMOTA and in the wider community. Ultimately ‘Champions For Change’ acknowledge the importance of living sustainably for the good of all, and recognise interconnectedness within the intricate network of creation.
