The RISE Program works with SLU students who meet two of the following criteria:
First-generation college students (defined as neither parent having completed a four-year degree)
Federal Pell grant recipient
Registered with the Center for Accessibility and Disability Resources (CADR)
Identifies as being part of a racially/ethnically minoritized population
RISE will work to identify eligible students and invite them to apply to the program. We recognize that not all students can be pre-identified in reports so even if not invited to apply, so long as they meet two of the above criteria they will be allowed to apply. RISE will be supporting first-years through seniors and anticipate being able to support 500-600 students.
Within RISE, we serve as secondary advisors to all of our students. Some of the services we provide our students are:
Intrusive counseling/advising
Standing tutoring
Writing support
Financial literacy education (including FAFSA support)
Peer mentoring
Free psychological testing
Student-centered workshops & events
SLU 101 RISE Information
Freshman/First-Year Program Day 1: RISE will be in BSC 251B from 3:30-4:30 so that students and/or their support people can come and ask questions in a more private setting.
Freshman/First-Year Program Day 2: RISE will have a table at the resource fair at lunch. Feel free to direct students there to apply or to ask questions.
Transfer SLU 101: RISE will have a table at the resource fair but will not have walk-in hours like we offer during the freshman/first-year sessions.
