Students Interested in the School of Nursing
The Traditional BSN Program is OPEN for the incoming freshman class, as long as interested students meet admission requirements. Advisors must contact Admissions (Caitlin Mueller or Rebecca Moore) to confirm eligibility.
If a student comes to the Major Change Room with this request, the Admission rep will verify admissibility as soon as possible, but the student will be instructed to proceed with current major until it is confirmed.
If admitted, the student, current advisor, & Natalie Floeh will be notified by Admissions, and Natalie will make sure we are in contact with them.
If students are not admissible, but still interested, they can be advised to take classes like CHEM 1080/1085, PSY 1010, STAT 1100, ENGL 1900, and other core requirements like UQ: THEO, UQ: PHIL, EP: Oral & Visual Comm, Creative Expression, or WOT: AHC. They would be eligible to apply as a major changer at the end of the Fall semester, or consider the Accelerated BSN in the future.
Students Interested in Doisy College
All Doisy programs are OPEN for the incoming freshman class, as long as interested students meet admission requirements. Advisors must contact Admissions (Caitlin Mueller or Rebecca Moore) to confirm eligibility.
If a student comes to the Major Change Room to request any of these majors:
For Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, & ACCELERATED Speech, Language, & Hearing Science, additional verification is required so the answer will take a little longer. The student will be instructed to proceed with current major until it is confirmed.
For all other Doisy programs, Admissions should be able to give an immediate answer.
If admitted, the student, current advisor, & Natalie Floeh will be notified by Admissions, and Natalie will make sure we are in contact with them.
If the student is not admissible, but still interested, they can be advised to take the necessary sciences/math/core classes connected with that major and plan to apply as a major changer at the end of the Fall semester. Some major courses may also be open to them - let Natalie Floeh know if you have questions!
Students Interested in Flight Science (Professional Pilot)
Students ARE NOT permitted to declare or change into the Aeronautics major-Flight Science concentration.
Advisors should refer students to Jenn van Driest (gchat is best for immediate response; then, jennifer.vandriest@slu.edu)
Students are always welcome to change to the Aeronautics major-Aviation Management concentration and inquire with Jenn van Driest about whether or not there is a Flight Science WAITLIST available. If a waitlist is available, to move off of it, a spot needs to open (there is no guarantee a spot will open), and the waitlisted student needs to have a current FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate (issued within the previous 12 months). It is highly recommended that students complete the medical examination as soon as possible, especially if they are given a spot on the waitlist, because it is common for certain health issues or prescribed medications to cause a delay of several months before the certificate is issued.
