MCAS TESTING FOR 2020-21 School Year

• Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the state is still expecting students to complete the MCAS test this year.

• The test has been shortened so that each student will take one session in each subject (instead of the usual two sessions per subject).

• The state is not offering the option to take the MCAS remotely (it can only be taken from the school building).

• If you have chosen to have your student continue to learn remotely for the remainder of this school year, the state has indicated that for this year there will not be a negative consequence for your student if you are uncomfortable with them returning to school to take the test this year.

• Students who are returning to school in-person will take the MCAS on days they are in school.

• If you have opted to remain remote for the remainder of the year, please contact your child’s teacher if you would like your student to be able to take MCAS. We will call families who haven’t responded to teachers by April 30th.

• We need to know your preference to establish a testing schedule for remote students that allows us to ensure compliance with CDC safety guidance when they return to school on their testing days.

• Also, we will be reaching out this week to families with English Learners who selected to remain remote and are needing to take the ACCESS assessment

LAS PRUEBAS MCAS para el año escolar 20-21

• A pesar de la pandemia de COVID-19, el estado aún espera que los estudiantes completen la prueba MCAS este año.

• La prueba ha sido acortada para que cada alumno realice una sesión en cada asignatura (en lugar de las usuales dos sesiones por asignatura).

• El estado no está ofreciendo la opción de tomar el MCAS de forma remota (solo se puede tomar desde el edificio de la escuela).

• Si ha elegido que su estudiante continúe aprendiendo de forma remota durante el resto de este año escolar, el estado ha indicado que para este año no habrá una consecuencia negativa para su estudiante si no se siente cómodo con que regrese a la escuela para tomar la prueba este año.

• Los estudiantes que estén regresando presencialmente o en persona a la escuela, tomarán el MCAS los días que estén en la escuela.

• Si ha optado por permanecer remoto durante el resto del año, por favor, comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo si desea que su hijo pueda tomar MCAS.

• Necesitamos saber su preferencia para establecer un horario de pruebas para estudiantes remotos que nos permita garantizar el cumplimiento de las guías de seguridad de los CDC cuando regresen a la escuela en sus días de pruebas. Más información por venir.

• Además, esta semana nos estaremos comunicando con las familias de estudiantes que están aprendiendo inglés que eligieron permanecer remotos y necesitan tomar la evaluación ACCESS.
