The following behaviors are considered serious in nature and will be treated as such. Parents will receive notification and may be asked to meet with the administration. The student may be placed on a Disciplinary Probation Contract, suspended or asked to withdraw. Expulsion may be necessary for a grave single incident. If the student remains at Juan Diego Catholic High School, he or she may be on a disciplinary contract for a portion or the remainder of the school year. A second offense within this probationary time may result in an immediate expulsion of the student from school. If any offense is of criminal nature, proper authorities will be notified.
Harassment and hazing of any member of the school community, whether on or off school property, will not be tolerated.
When appropriate, law enforcement officials will be contacted when such harassment violates state and local statutes.
Students who harass any member of the Juan Diego community will have disciplinary action and may include expulsion from the school.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
Any form of verbal abuse, including electronic communications
Demeaning behavior, direct or implied.
Physical violence
Sexual misconduct or behavior that interferes with another person’s feeling of well-being at the school.
Any electronic communication posted at any time on any social media platform that shows disrespect to another JDCHS student, staff, or faculty member using gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background will not be tolerated.
Juan Diego Catholic High School believes students represent themselves, their families, and their school outside of the confines of the campus. Therefore, students who participate in parties where alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs are being used, provided, and dispensed are in violation of the Student Behavior Code. Any student, who attends such parties, whether or not they use a controlled substance, is subject to disciplinary actions.
Any parent hosting the above-described activity/party will place their student’s continued enrollment at Juan Diego in jeopardy and may be reported to the local authorities.
It is illegal for any student to use, furnish, possess, sell, or be under the influence of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, including related paraphernalia, or any controlled substance at any time, including, but not limited to at school or during any school function.
Any student who is caught providing alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs, including related paraphernalia, or any controlled substance is subject to expulsion from school and to prosecution by local authorities.
It is the responsibility of every student to respect the personal property of others and the equipment and facilities of the school at all times, therefore:
Items found at school are to be turned in to the Student Services Office.
Any and all theft of school or personal property may result in the student committing the theft, being immediately suspended from school. In severe cases, local law enforcement agencies will be called and appropriate citations issued.
Students who are caught stealing are liable for expulsion from the school.
All students are strongly encouraged to not bring excessive amounts of cash, or other valuable personal property to school.
Fighting at school will not be tolerated at Juan Diego.
Any student who assaults, batters, or threatens force or violence toward anyone may be suspended or expelled from the school.
Gangs are defined as a group of three or more people who specifically intend to commit a crime. The association and/or membership of Juan Diego students in gang or gang-related activities will not be tolerated. Students involved in such associations or claiming to be involved in such associations are liable for expulsion from the school.
Strong suspicion of inappropriate images will be referred to the Child Sexual Abuse Material department (CSAM) within the Draper Police Department. Parents will be notified and will meet with Draper PD.
Sexting is illegal.
Students involved in the possession or transmission of inappropriate photos, videos, images, text, etc. on their cell phones or other electronic devices or physical copies will face immediate school discipline and may be subject to local, state, or federal laws.
The possession and/or use of any weapons at Juan Diego before, during, or after school will not be tolerated.
Students who use or possess a weapon at school present a threat and a danger to the safety and well-being of the community and to themselves.
Students who use or possess a weapon may be expelled from school. Students may be detained until local authorities and/or parents are contacted.
