Dress Code
Philosophy and Purpose
Standards of dress, which protect the dignity of a student’s self-worth, will provide the atmosphere of freedom necessary for both young women and men to express their God-given uniqueness in an uncompromising manner and should be in keeping with the Catholic values regarding modesty that best represent the Juan Diego community. In dressing for school, we challenge students to understand the dignity of their work and to respect each other for their character, rather than clothing, As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, “The human body shares in the dignity of ‘the image of God’: it is a human body precisely because it is animated by a spiritual soul, and it is the whole human person that is intended to become, in the body of Christ, a temple of the Spirit.” (Para. 364: Cf. 1 Cor 6:19-20; 15:44-45).
All uniforms are sold through Saint Paul’s Place located in the Saint Joseph Commons. Only uniforms sold through Saint Paul’s Place are permitted. Students and parents/guardians are responsible to be familiar with the dress code. Dress should never distract from learning. If you think you shouldn’t wear it, you shouldn’t.
ALL UNIFORM REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE ADMINISTRATION.
PLEASE NOTE: Students must be in proper uniform before, during, and after school while on the campus of Juan Diego Catholic High School. If not, the student will be sent to St. Paul’s Place Campus Store to purchase the needed item. JDCHS does not loan uniform items.
