The Campus Life Department represents a sustained commitment to educating the entire individual: spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Our mission is to create opportunities for all of our community to experience the school’s motto - Spiritus Donorum - the “spirit of giving” - in a truly personal and transformational way.
The selection and/or election of Campus Life programs begin in the spring of each year through a common application. All student leaders are mentored to live and demonstrate the highest standards of Christian life, honoring the JDCHS code of conduct.
The annual rites and rituals of JDCHS are important elements in the school’s calendar. These rituals create an outward expression of our commitment to excellence, community and living the school’s motto - Spiritus Donorum.
Prayer, in many forms, is part of the fabric and culture of our school. We pray together each day. We traditionally begin and (and often end) class with prayer. Our teams pray together before and after games. In the Catholic tradition, we gather together often throughout the year, as a community, to celebrate Mass together. The celebration of the Eucharist is the highest demonstration of our faith and is attended by the entire student body, faculty and staff. All of the many faith traditions of our students and faculty are respected and reflect the diversity of our campus. Our parents and grandparents are always welcome to join us for any Mass on campus.
All liturgies, retreats, and prayer experiences are planned and led by the Student Faith and Liturgy Committee.
Please note: Gathering for prayer and regular liturgies is a core aspect of why someone attends JDCHS. Checking out of school prior to a school liturgy, religious service, or activity, is not permitted under any circumstance. If you have questions about this policy, please see Mr. Brunetti.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel is a beautiful and quiet place for prayer. The chapel is always open and available for private or group prayer. If you’d like to reserve the Chapel for a group, please email “Scheduling@skaggscatholiccenter.org”.
Throughout the year students are given the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation scheduled through their Theology classes.
At least one retreat is held annually for each of the grades. These days of special prayer, reflection and discussion are planned specifically for each grade level, and attendance is mandatory.
