Competition Activity
Creating a Competition
Click on the Activity button and select Competition.
Enter your questions and possible answers. You will only be able to use multiple choice questions for competitions.
Set the correct answer by clicking the check mark symbol to the left of the answer.
Click on Add another question button, to add additional questions.
When done adding questions, click on Create button (bottom right). You will be directed to the competition slideshow page.
Competition Settings
Restrict Participants - leave off, recommend you use the Screen name feature to identify participants
Allow changing answers - participants clear their response to a question and submit a new one.
Enable timer - limit how much time participants have to answer each question. Timer can be set between 5 - 180 seconds max.
Edit Competitions
From your Activities Page, click on the competition.
From the competition slide show page, select the slide (question) you want to edit.
Click on Add question button at top to add a new question to an existing competition. The new slide will be added to end of the competition.
Click the Edit button (pencil icon) on the preview slide.
Click on the Delete button (trash can) to delete a question from the competition. (this can not be recovered)
Use the Up and Down arrows to rearrange the questions in the competition.
Click on the Save button (bottom right), when finished editing.
Clear responses button at the bottom of the main competition slide will clear all the responses, enabling you to run the competition again.
Scoring
The scoring process is automated and can not be changed by presenter.
Each question starts with a value of 1000 points and decreases as time passes when using timed responses. The longer a participant takes to answer a question the fewer points they will earn.
If a timer is not used, responses are worth 1000 points and scored solely on correctness.
Presenting Competitions
With your competition selected, from the slideshow view, click on the Play button (top right). Additionally, competitions can be inserted into PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides.
Using the right arrow key (bottom) to advance from welcome slide and navigate through the questions within the competition.
There are 4 phases for each question within a competition: Question, Answers, Responses, and Leaderboard.
The Question slide - the question as well as the participant link will be displayed
The Answer slide - answer options will be displayed, start receiving responses. The question will stop receiving responses when the timer expires, if not using a timer manually advance the slide.
The Response slide - displays how participants have responded and indicates the correct answer.
The Leaderboard slide - displays each participant standing during the competition.
Responding to a Competition
Participants can respond to the competition one of 2 ways:

The Poll Everywhere mobile app
As you navigate through the phases of the competition, within the response slide participants will see how many points they received based on their response. The leaderboard slide will appear after every question.
