Dr. Hiro KhoshnawI was born in the historic city of Hewlér (Arbil) situated in the Iraqi Kurdistan, where I also spent my early childhood. In the late 1970s and as a result of the Iraqi government's rising oppression against the Kurds, my family, along with many other Kurdish families, sought refuge in Iran. I completed my general and medical education in Iran and after graduating from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1991; I came to the United Kingdom for higher professional training.Soon after obtaining my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST), I was appointed as a Consultant Physician in Care of the Elderly in April 2001.

In my current position I have regular commitment to teach junior doctors and organising educational activities. I am also a member of the Specialist Training Committee (STC) for Geriatric Medicine in the South Thames region.

Within the speciality of Geriatric Medicine, I have developed special interest in falls, osteoporosis and malnutrition. Outside work I enjoy reading Persian poetry and listening to music.
