The Groveling of Pakistani Elites

Native Orientalists at the Daily Times

One of the central themes of the European view of the world is the idea that whole world was in darkness and ignorance, and dawn of the age of reason first occurred in Europe:

Age of Enlightenment: a term used to describe the trends in thought and letters in Europe and the American colonies during the 18th century prior to the French Revolution (1789-1799). The phrase was frequently employed by writers of the period itself, convinced that they were emerging from centuries of darkness and ignorance into a new age enlightened by reason, science, and a respect for humanity. The period also often is referred to as the Age of Reason. – Internet Encarta.

The effects of this brainwashing can easily be detected. In an article entitled “No home-grown education system” by Anwar Syed published as a Dawn Editorial on November 9, 2008, (http://www.dawn.com/2008/11/09/ed.htm), the author writes that “public education began in our continent with the advent of British rule.” The learned author has a Ph.D. from the USA and is writing in one of the leading English newspapers in Pakistan. In effect, he is parroting lessons learnt from our British rulers that we were all ignorant savages before the British came to educate and civilize us.
