I will not be writing to the story, "Historical Fiction," aka., "We Find Ourselves Returning to Find Home," for the time being. The opening of the radio drama contest has come and gone. The deadline is nearly upon us. Sometime in early November 2015 I decided to use the, "Writing Map," I bought. ("Write Around the Bookshop") The first entry in the notebook was from November 7, 2015. I thought that since the opening of the radio drama competition came and went, I would put my radio drama on hold in order to concentrate on the work I needed to do around the house. We always have lots to do getting the house ready for a Christmas guest. I was tempted and distracted by the Writing Map. I figured that it would be something simple to keep me from getting involved in a major project that would detract from the house work. The writing map was indeed simple. There was more room left in the notebook when I was finished. So I downloaded more writing prompts. Around the time I did that, I had started a notebook for notes to a fully fledged story. My goal now is to write this story as a novel and a radio drama.

The reason this story is listed as a, "Lums Chapel Story," is because the character, Constance Lingwood in, "How I Learned to Read A Book," is a pen pal of Josephine Argyle.

At the bottom of this page are some photos of some notebooks etc. that I am using to write this story.

From a note written around May 10, 2016. I have every intention of writing and finishing a radio drama for a BBC World Service competition. I am keeping a journal of my radio writing efforts. You can check that page in order to read about my progress. The Reason I stuck the, "Radio Writing Journal," with the, "Lums Chapel," stories, is because I am thinking of writing something with characters from the Lums Chapel stories for the competition.

Sometime in early November 2015 I decided to use the, "Writing Map," I bought. I thought that since the opening of the 2016 radio drama competition came and went, I would put my radio drama on hold in order to concentrate on the work I needed to do around the house. We always have lots to do getting the house ready for a Christmas guest. My goal now is to spend the whole of April 2016 writing a novel. Please look at the index page for, "How I Learned to Read a Book," in order to learn more. There is also a Journal for that story as well. I hope to write, "How I Learned to Read a Book," as both a novel and a radio drama. I will write more to this journal when and if it becomes relevant.

Below are some photos of a notebook and scrapbook I am using as I write this story.

The gold colored honeycomb notebook, is a "Michael Roger," "Honeycomb," "Decomposition Book". I glued rose leaves and petals to it. I also embellished it with a large wooden rose button. The photograph of people is a photocopy of an old photo I bought on eBay. It is of a family vintage, 1890s to 1910 [maybe] in their, "back garden". [It is difficult to glue flower petals everywhere so they stay stuck. The glue tends to take the color from plant material. I looked up directions on a crafter's website, I was supposed to use dots of glue rather than a large smear. But that was for gluing plant material so it can be framed. My application was going to have to stand up to every day use, which isn't the same as framing. We finally put together a, "new" printer that we had sitting around. There was a heavy duty plastic bag encasing the printer in the box. It had handles on it and a message that said, re-use then re-cycle it. I am using it as a cover to protect the rose pieces. Of course in cutting it down and attaching it to the notebook we put a hole in it. The clear wide package tape would have made a nicer repair had we not crinkled the piece we used. It works well enough.]

Some of the themes of my story are, gardens, roses, and family history. I want to use that notebook to answer the questions in, "The Writing Notebook: Family," by Shaun Levin. I want to use it for both the Lums Chapel stories and this story. Type written text on cover reads--"Notes as I read: The Writing Notebook---Family By, Shaun Levin For the Stories: Lums Chapel Stories "How I Learned to Read A Book" ".

The red one is a scrapbook. I forget the maker. I embellished it with some sticky backed embroidered roses I got on eBay too. I got every thing off eBay except the, "Honeycomb," notebook. I am sticking in here, the photos that have inspired, "How I Learned to Read A Book".
