Purpose of the Proclamation (v.3-4)

1. that we may have fellowship with each other (v.3)

a. is your joy complete? Full, over filling?

b. is your view of Christ correct? Does it agree with what the bible says?

c. Does knowing who Jesus is and that you have eternal life in Him give you joy?

d. if we do not trust in the real Jesus we cannot really be saved.

5. Summary

a. John’s purpose for writing to believers is so that

1. we may also have community with him

2. we may have fellowship with the Father and the Son,

III. Summation:

John wrote about what he personally saw and experienced in the life of Jesus. He was fully convinced who Jesus was. He personally saw with his eyes and mind and believed Jesus to be the Messiah-Savior. John and the others did not make up crafty devised or created fables, myths. Jesus was born physically, He was with God the Father and was always fully God.

He wrote so that believers may know that they have eternal life and that they may continue to believe or trust in Christ.

IV. Invitation:

So, do you have fellowship with the Word of life, with the one who has revealed who God is for all time? To have a relationship with God and have eternal life, we must agree with God about our sin and trust that Jesus died to pay for our sins. Have you do that?
