What is substance use versus substance abuse?
Substance abuse occurs when a person of any age uses prescription medicine, alcohol, and/or any other legal or illegal substance too much or in a way that hurts themselves or others.
Why should we care about using substances?
Substance use can have many harmful side effects on our physical and mental wellbeing. The TDSB has created some rules and consequences regarding substance use at school to help us stay safe.
Is my gaming an addiction?
If your gaming is taking over most of your thoughts, time, and interest, you might have a problem with gaming addiction. Games are built to help you feel good, just like substances might make you feel good. Gaming becomes a problem when we cannot find other ways to feel good in our lives. When our relationships are negatively affected by our gaming, we might want to think about whether we have a gaming addiction or not.
